[...] Tamera Kremer wrote a detailed post considering the question “how should young professionals interact in the blogosphere - should they be able to challenge the more senior professionals in the industry?” Her take on the topic is different to most and well worth a read. It also brings up how the pr and marketing communities view social media - do we ‚Äúown‚Äù it, or are we learning and using it along with the rest of the world? How can we expect to communicate with our client‚Äôs or brand‚Äôs customers via this new and shifting channel if we immediately shut down a learning opportunity from a key demographic (Chris ~ Gen-Y), and a part of the same demographic who is currently helping to shape, beta test and build Web 2.0 applications and tools en masse? The early adopters if you will. What they have to say, and how they say it, is, in my opinion, important. [...]

@ chris - thanks, it feels good to be dusting off the cobwebs so to speak. I hope that we can continue to debate the topic and expand the boundaries.

@ paull - thank you for the compliment (and tweet), much appreciated.

"we don't all have to be Seth Godin"
Absolutely. We just have to be the best "me" we can be.

This is an excellent, thoughtful post. I just Tweeted a link to it - I think it's one of the best contributions to this conversation so far.

"We are defined by what we contribute and communities online take many shapes and sizes."

I agree. And the question you should ask yourself when blogging is 'in which communities and on which topics can I best make a contribution?'

We don't all have to be Seth Godin. In my case I'm hoping to help educate my peers and perhaps some more experienced folk new to social media.

Thanks for taking the time to write this, Tamera-I'll say it again: I'm really enjoying your return to blogging more frequently.

I'm really looking forward to the conversation that ensues. This post takes the conversation to a whole 'nother level.
