15 Canadians who are actually doing things in social media
I loathe popularity contest posts, link-bait posts, and the like, especially as I see my tweetstream fill up at the end of the year with “vote for me!!” tweets, so, in order to ‘get over myself’ I’ve put together a far from definitive list of 15 Canadians working in social media in one shape or another who are actually *doing* things in the space vs just tweeting or blogging or whatnot. Now, these are mainly Toronto-focused peeps, but I did manage to throw in two Vangroovy folks and a token bureaucrat from The Hill ;) Feel free to add your own recommended folks who impress you in the comments or via twitter, or just ignore this post as it may indeed be just my opinion. :)

My girl crush on you just quadrupled, FYI! Same to you, lady. This has been a kick ass year for you and I’m proud to have seen it all happen (and be a part of it, kind of)!

Best list I’ve ever been on. Much appreciated, Tamera. Happy holidays to you and yours – here’s to getting to see you F2F in 2010!

I’m not usually one for lists, but the understated emphasis here makes me feel rather glow-y all over. The point is so much more potent because of what you don’tsay.
Thank you.

Tamera,
To mirror ‘The Badger’ above, I’m also not one for lists, I dread the looming echo chamber & happy clappers. That being said I have to say I’m most pleased to make your personal blog, with such a talented list it’s hard not to smile.
Here’s hoping that @endwarchild & @ftjco can make some real impact in ‘10 so I can make it again.
Last, thanks for putting me before James :)

I love when the back channel pokes its head out of the shadows to see what daylight looks like.
Like a good bandmate, you’ve left a lot of space for the rest of us to riff off. My mind went straight to retitling this list as “15 people I’d trust with a half-million dollar social media budget.”

Thanks, Tamera – quite apart from being one of the nicest compliments I’ve had in 2009, there are a number of names here I want to make a point of getting to know better in 2010.
And speaking of 2010, I hope it’s a fantastic year for you and (3i)!

You’ve just given me my New Year’s resolution. I will make this list… someday… someday… *dramatic sunset*

Well, I’m a bit late to the party! You know I think you’re da bomb. Thank you for including me here because I’m just a small fish in this here pond. But happy to be here nonetheless :)
